Developmental Delays
Children develop at their own pace. However, it is important for parents to be aware of potential signs of developmental delays in their children.
The aim of our child development services program is to enrich and enhance the quality of life and living conditions of children and youth between 0 and 18 years of age who are at risk or have developmental delays. In partnership with their families and service providers in the community, we help children and youth develop intellectually, physically and socially.
If you are concerned about your child’s development, do not hesitate to contact us. Depending on your concerns, our qualified workers will use a number of screening tools to assess your child’s development.
The Looksee checklist is a tool that can also help you identify the developmental challenges faced by children up to six years of age. Thanks to the provincial government, this tool is free for all Ontario residents.
In partnership with CHEO, Valoris offers Coordinated Service Planning services to support families with children or teens presenting multiple or complex special needs who find it difficult to coordinate all of the necessary services and thereby offer their children or teens the best possible plan of care.
We offer support and guidance to families in order to equip them to meet their child’s different needs and to facilitate access to community services:
- Developmental assessment.
- Workshops and groups.
- Triple P Stepping Stones groups.
- Stimulation services (0 to 6 years).
- Intensive behavioural support and parenting skills services (0 to 17 years).
- Networking and support for parents.
