Applying for Services (DSOER)
Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), which is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, helps adults with development disabilities to find services and support in their community. There are nine regional offices throughout Ontario, including the DSO Eastern Region, which services the Prescott-Russell area.
These organizations assess the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, and identify the types of support required based on the requests made by the individuals and their families. Passport funding applications also go through DSO.
DSOER is the single access point to services for adults with developmental disabilities in Prescott-Russell. It is recommended that individuals contact DSOER as soon as they turn 16 in order to ensure a smooth transition between services.
After your eligibility has been assessed and approved, DSOER will forward your application to ensure that services adapted to your needs can be offered to you, depending on the availability of the services in question.
